As the war in the Holy Land continues to rage, the Cardinal had called for a day of prayer for peace across the diocese on Friday 8th March. 

He invited every parish to observe this day in some way, whether in dedicated prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, or simply by making any regular Lenten devotions that day for this intention of peace.

Taking up the Cardinal's call, the Parish of St Joseph and the English Martyrs invited the pupils of St Joseph's Primary School in Bishop's Stortford to write prayers on the special ‘Doves of Peace’ that Aid to the Church in Need made available to parishes. 

Fr Peter Harris explained: ‘We felt it right to mount the prayers on and around our High Altar. 

‘People were very excited when they saw the display with no prior warning on the day. The school children spent ages on the Sanctuary finding their own Dove.’ 

The doves will remain around the Sanctuary carrying the parish's prayers for peace until there is a ceasefire.
